Dear Friends:
OGRE is perhaps the most well-known and beloved of the "Microgames" that came out during the 80's, and is arguably the crown jewel of the Steve Jackson empire. Other SJ offerings incude GURPS and Car Wars. (Don't worry Lasallites I don't think he's a Jesuit !)
OGRE is a simple game of futuristic land combat, featuring tanks, ground effect vehicles (GEVs), etc, and of course the star of the game the humungous mega-tanks called OGREs.
Thanks to kind relatives in the States, I just received a shipment of all original OGRE games and supplments, including the miniatures version rules.
You can readily download a free lite version of the game at the Steve Jackson games site.

Oooh...yeah, I remember seeing old ads for that in Dragon magazine.
I loved the OGRE pic saying what each weapon on the vehicle is (it had nukes, right?).

Dear Friends,
The 6th Edition of Ogre is in the works, according to the Steve Jackson Games Website.
Hopefully, this will renew interest in Ogre globally.

These look like the cars used in the last stage of Takeshi's Castle, only some are already crossovers with a Mammoth Tank

Yeah ha ha ha now that you mention it they do look like those craft. That was a hard last stage and I don't remember seeing anyone beat it.
