Eton sounds interesting and I want to try it out to see how much boardgaming can be done over there but probably not this Sat. I'm trying to see if we can pull one AH nights with you guys, kahit just to go over the rules. Lets see.

that would be great Smiley Eton has a wide space that can accomodate a big game of AH. We can even try infinite city there. Infinite city is a game that has its fun level directly proportional to the number of players.

As opposed to Wealth of Nations which is inversely proportional  Grin

xtriker:
Politics and player interaction are very broad concepts.  Specific terms can be used like voting, negotiation  Grin

example
Politics = Die Macher and Twilight Struggle which are political in nature but involves little to no wheeling and dealing among players

but I understand what games you are looking for, and those are my favorite type of games also  Wink

My suggestions are
Battlestar Galactica (traitor/variable powers/negotiation/voting/coop)
Traders of Genoa (Trading/Negotiation)
Intrigue (which I want to try) (pure negotiation)

anyway the reason why i responded to this post is to ask
where is Eton?

Chinatown has one of the purest negotiating themes out there

Junta also has a strong political and player interaction mechanism

Lifeboat feels that itch as well

I agree with BSG and Here I stand as well

While not exactly a negotiating game, Shadows over Camelot has a traitor mechanic (like BSG) that allows for some interesting player interactions

Co-op games like Shadows over Camelot, Pandemic and Ghost stories are also rich in player involvement.

You may also want to try Ca$h n/ Guns and Bang! for parties

I agree with Vis.  Player interaction is very broad and highly general (and sometimes overrated).  It can involve anything from "take that" or "in your face" mechanics to "roleplaying" mechanics to "negotiation" mechanics to "ordering other people around" mechanics and so on.  Heck, party games usually have high player interaction as well.  Hehehehe... Wink

So what's key is for you to determine what sort of interactions you prefer.  There're some people who don't like confrontations while there are others who relish it.  There're some people who like co-op games and there're others who abhor it.

Now if what you prefer are games that involve alot of wheeling and dealing and talking, here're some suggestions:

  - Chinatown
  - Hart an der Grenze
  - Civilization
  - Genoa

If what you prefer are cooperative (or semi-cooperative) games that involve alot of talking back and forth:

  - Shadows Over Camelot
  - Pandemic
  - Last Night on Earth
  - Defenders of the Realm (Not Yet Released)

If what you prefer are games involving fighting, alliances and/or duplicity:

  - A Game of Thrones
  - Maria
  - Republic of Rome
  - Here I Stand
  - Diplomacy

And the list goes on.  Hehehehe...

Anyway, your best bet really is to attend meets and mini-meets that happen on a very regular basis.  I know how busy and hectic life can be (I'm a dad with two kids), but sometimes we just need to go out of our way and make the time to get some fun in.  Hehehehe...

I guess either more of co-op and vice versa (backstabbing/traitors etc..)

hhhmm.. now I need to play more games so I'll know which to buy with my limited budget.

If I can only buy just 1 board game (assuming you don't know my preferences) what would you recommend?
