Highlander TCG
«
on:

Anyone remember the old Highlander trading/collectible card game? It came out in the mid 90s; I actually had 2 halfway decent decks - one Connor Macleod and one Slan Quince, but then our car was broken into and my bag (containing ALL my thesis research & drafts, and all my Highlander cards) was stolen
I didn't mind losing the thesis so much, but the cards were no longer in print at the time and were hard to come by.
Now it looks like there is a second edition out:

I actually rather liked the idea of the game, and I had friends who had some good decks (one guy even had a good Kurgan deck, with the Berserk cards). I'm glad there's a new edition out; is anyone else interested?

Yep, I remember this one
Though only because an Inquest mag I bought had a free Highlander card named, interestingly enough, "Inquest", showing Duncan wearing a blue American civil war uniform and a hangman's noose around his neck :p
Gosh, where were these cards available then? I don't think I ever saw anyone play this one, or any store that carried it!

I bought my 2 decks and 2 boosters at Total Rec (no longer extant) at University Mall beside DLSU Taft. I never saw anyone else buy, and the store owner said very few were interested.
Then, a few months after I'd given up on getting people to play it (M:tG was the big thing then), I ran into a couple of old friends (also from DLSU) who had a couple of decks each - and constructed with rares, even. Sadly I'm no longer in touch with these guys, and I don't know what happened to their cards.

If you can bring them to the open meet, I'm fairly sure I remember the rules well enough to catch up

OMG.. Ahh memories...
Although I wasn't able to play the game. I was acquainted to a US champion. He god a deck that seriously exploited a "bug" in the rules.

Anyone have any plans of importing this? I just thought I'd mention it since
PUGS
is now around and there seems to be a resurgence in L5R...

Thanks for the heads up,
Rolf
,
I'll ask the
P·U·G·S
peeps to talk to the
Highlander Philippines
head. I know that he's been trying to get people to learn the TCG, so with a the upcoming Season 3 set, this might be the opportunity that he's looking for.

I think they are doing pre-con decks now, unlike when I bought mine before. I would sure like to run a Kurgan deck...
btw, in my first post I said "Berserk" cards - I was wrong, I meant "Bloodlust". It's a mean Kurgan card that allows him to make up to 15 separate attacks in one go

If anyone feels like doing up a print & play, the cards' names and text are listed here:
