I just came from the NG forums and noticed that the whole section for Warhammer, both for WFB and 40K, have been taken down.  WTF?!?

I have no idea.  My posts there were also deleted before as I think my signature is linked to this site or I did mention Heroscape in some of them.

Anyway we try to avoid that kind of situation from happening here as we are more lenient in allowing posts. Smiley

Mr. NG himself said it was just a cleanup of inactive threads. He says its been taking up a lot of space especially the older inactive thread. Some of my threads were deleted too, but its not a big deal.

Deleting inactive threads?  They use phpBB and I've used that before as admin on other forums.  I KNOW phpBB has an automatic pruning feature of old and inactive topics.

And as far as I know, the Warhammer Fantasy and Warhammer 40K sections in the NG forum is active, or at least generally, more active than the other sections that are still there.

The absence of Warhammer in their forums will affect communication between players.  More importantly, it will hinder interactivity between NG customers who are starting into the hobby and the local gaming community.

Better redirect em all here then!  hehehe...  NG should have just locked the said "inactive" threads so as to archive them at least.

There are more inactive forums than Warhammer that was not removed... any way let's continue playing and forget about it.

Anyways, I think what NG did is expected and understandable as NG is a store with a community website unlike us.  They have to monitor and filter postings in their forum to protect their business.  Although I am not sure why they deleted the Warhammer forum there but I guess they have a valid reason to do so.  I agree lets just forget about it and concentrate on the games we love to play.  I don't mean to say this disrespectfully to NG or those concerned but just a reminder: tabletopwars.com will be here to welcome any topics about tabletop games which may not be allowed in the other forum as long as it follows our very lenient rules & regulations.  So I guess it is a good thing having more available resources and tools in the net to locally promote the hobby.  Smiley

I think they made a mistake in deleting, since they carry WH products. I'll ask them when I get to see them.

the warhammer section definitely wasn't inactive, since i was answering posts a day prior to the deletion of the ENTIRE section..

and 2 days prior to the deletion of the Warhammer section, my posts regarding alternate playing areas disappeared, so thinking that there
was a bug or something(since my other posts for the same date were still there), i reposted.

[blockquote]as justin has posted, we just finished a multiple week campaign in NG G2, it
was a 500pt game using 40K-in-40 Minutes list (not your regular game for 40K,
it's almost a squad based combat), we normally had games at around after 6pm
during weekdays tho.

there are other players in that can be located in Hobby Haven in Katipunan, it's
just beside Tapa King, it's located at a street parallel to Katipunan, use KFC
as your guide, asj for directions when you're in the area. players there are
mostly students, but we do have a few veteran gamers that have their armies
stashed there just in case anyone wants to have a game or two.

during saturdays, there are players that have games in UP Diliman, at the
workshop of the College of Fine Arts (located right after the intersection w/ a
checkpoint). there are multiple 4x8 tables ther (it is a workshop),
its the area where IPMS-bac members do their weekly build sessions. players in
UPcfa during saturdays can bring both Warhammer WFB or Warhammer 40K if you
want, just schedule what pointage you would want, you'll even learn a trick or
two about modelling your figs and painting.

we just finished running a 1000pt tournament last Black Saturday in Pithop,
thats along Araneta Ave right in front of PNB, there are four 4x6 tables there
andthere are players that live near the area( walking distance actually), just
look for their contact numbers.

i could actually play in NG RobGal since it is the NG branch nearest my house
(around a 10 minute drive), we could schedule games there if you want, just
inform me in advance

there are multiple areas that one can have casual games in, mostly one has to
schedule games beforehand w/ the local area players tho since most of those
that play 40K and WFB are either students of are working already.
[/blockquote]

well thats what i posted.. no changes whatsoever..

and in accordance to their forum guidelines, i didn't advertise another forum, link to a non-PG site, post any personal info/contact numbers nor did i post anything that would be deemed the least bit harmful to our little gaming community, to warrant post deletion..

and since i posted the day prior to the deletion of thesection, it's impossible that the section was deleted due to inactivity.. !mistrust

I have to agree with the sentiments of both Crispybeefribs and lecroissant.
I used to be a staunch supporter of NG, until I was made aware of how they treated some of their customers and retailers, especially during my time as an LotR TCG player.
I especially agree with lecroissant's statements on wanting a "politics-free" environment. After all, we're just playing games, aren't we? I mean, if we're having a stressful or difficult time with the gaming, then that probably means we're not enjoying it.
While I'm no radical/firebrand who'd call for a boycott of NG, I think we, the costumers, should at least have our voices heard, especially if we are in anyway treated poorly.

Just my two cents,

Unfortunately there WILL be politics anywhere we go - be it tabletop wargames, CCGs or even cosplays!

IMHO forums are a good thing to express gripes as well as praises.  If people who own forums start deleting stuff on their own whim, then it's better they have no forums at all.  Forums, messageboards and the like are all about freedom of speech.  You take the good WITH the bad.

I've been handling forums and communities for over 6 years now.  If there's one thing I've learned, once you start muzzling people, they start biting.  If they got gripes, have a sit down and talk it out.  Then reach a reasonable compromise.

If you become a nazi about "promoting your business" and reject what your customers have to say, don;t you think that it becomes a WORSE problem?
