Federation Commander (ADB) is a featured game at the monthly Sci-Fi Wargaming Meet.

From Wikipedia:
Federation Commander is a tactical starship combat game system, produced and developed by Amarillo Design Bureau Inc. It is designed to represent combat between vessels of various factions in the Star Fleet Universe, such as the United Federation of Planets and the Klingon Empire. Unlike its sister publication, Star Fleet Battles, Federation Commander is not intended to be a very in-depth simulation of space combat in the 22-23rd centuries. Rather, it is aimed at providing a balance between tactical nuance and ease of playability, one which makes the game more accessible for newer gamers, or those with limited time constraints, than Star Fleet Battles. -- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Federation_Commander

From BGG && http://www.federationcommander.com/:
From the designer of Star Fleet Battles, Federation Commander is the fast moving game of starship combat in the Star Fleet Universe. Mounted game boards, laminated full color ship control cards and gorgeous full color counters highlight this re-imagining of the Star Fleet Universe with 21st century production values.

Much effort has gone into streamlining the game - there are 8 impulses rather than 32. One die roll allocates up to 10 points of damage, rather than 2 dice per damage point that strikes the ship. Color coded charts and ship cards reduce the mental overhead of remembering what goes where.

Gone is the tax form of energy allocation, replaced by a free flowing dynamic "on the fly" power allocation system. Maneuver has had countless special cases removed and streamlined.

This is not an introduction to Star Fleet Battles, but a re-imagining of starship combat in the Star Fleet Universe, redesigned from the ground up to appeal to a wider audience and reduce rules lawyer-ism.

Included in the rules are the 'free form" (hexless) movement rules that have been in use for years; the hex map is scaled for miniatures bases, and the game is designed to be easy to port over to miniatures adaptations.

Hey Mark !

Any luck with playing FC in the past months ?  If not, maybe we can organize a game during one of my visits home (I'm now based overseas).  I plan to come home again in October 2010.

I'm also looking to help promote the game in the Philippines, along with its sister games Klingon/Romulan Armada, Prime Directive (RPG) and the soon-to-be-released (hopefully) Starfleet Universe-version of Battlestations, Federation Admiral and Starfleet Marines: Assault, the ground warfare companion to FC/SFB.

Cheers !

Hi Gary,

We haven't played any FC in about a year, I plan on ordering the new combined rulebook soon and starting up again. Let's try to get a game going with all the old FC and SFB players when you get back.

I also have the old edition Federation & Empire, a new version just came out this year.

BTW, I have the old FASA rpg in my trade pile.

Cheers,
 Mark
