I dont think its a sad thing Carlos as we all have preferences. But this does show that Twilight Struggle and Labyrinth: The War on Terror, though mechanically quite similar, are very different. I personally play the two to get very different game experiences.

I feel that Twilight Struggle provides an "action-reaction" experience: one players does something, and the other has an almost direct and proportional way of reacting to it. You obviously cannot play Labyrinth with a similar mindset, as it doesnt have the same direct response mechanism.

Either ways, i think these two games are wonderful time period simulations that provide for a great deal of what-if discussions plus will definitely bolster your appreciation (and knowledge) of recent history.

Lets play Doc!

This came out awhile ago in a game vs. Scoce. Can Missile Envy trigger the transfer of the China card? Answer is No Smiley

FYI, to the other players Wink

And also as reference to those who us who were made aware only recently, "free coups" from events like Junta or Tear Down This Wall do not affect the DEFCON track.

A clarification came up with the NORAD card. After playing it as an event, is it removed from play.

Answer : Yes

Section 2.2.4 of the Rulebook
"Many cards have an asterisk following their Event title. When these cards are played as Events, they are permanently removed from the game."

So, Scoce, rematch? Wink

Doc NORAD has no asterix; which is why it had no counter;

http://boardgamegeek.com/thread/593393/is-norad-removed-after-quagmire-and-is-formosan-re

You quagmired but I reestablished it.

Anyone interested in a ladder-style tourney for TS? Am willing to log, track games plus sponsor prizes; all Marks & Spencer food products though haha. 50 php nominal fee?

Some sticking points:
-chess timer
-initial op points bidding for sides(players write on sheets their side plus points, diff sides = no handicap, same side tie; rebid)
-Chinese civil war variant

Sounds like a great idea!

I'm game for all that, except the China Civil War variant.  That might just be too much unfamiliar territory.  Optional cards can be put in though.

Hats off to Adrian Manahan for probably the most "EPIC" game of Twilight Struggle last night! It was a totally whole new game for me especially during the Early war. Lots of mind games and counter mind games were played.

Highlights:
Comecon trap counter leading to US having the initiative during the Early war.

Fidel being sent to space and coming back to bring Cuba back to communism only to be assasinated.

US consistently taking the AR1 coup from the USSR by annoying East Germany with potshot influence. With USSR repairing E. Germany, US got frustrated and finally tore down the WALL!

"We will Bury You" got UN Intervention + Socialist Governments

US opting for re-alignments in Europe to kick USSR out of France and Italy in MID WAR!

USSR making a great comeback play by getting Africa, South America + great crisis management.

It went down to the last round with VP track at ZERO. China card now being the most important card!

Remix betrayed USSR by taking out Decolonization.

The Voice of America never fell down.

US made a risky play of handing China to USSR and getting FINLAND, LEBANON and AFGHANISTAN for the win!!

Truly epic game. Napalibre ko si panda ng chicken empanada during the game to keep our energy up!

and kudos to Panda for not taking the easy way out through the Lone Gunman!

Biggest issue would be that it'd take at least three tables for 6 players. With each game being 1-2 hours we could accommodate maybe 8 players ladder-style 8-4-2-1.

Could I hear a rough shout out on those interested? So far I'm counting about 4...
