What is the KARMA feature for?
In the forum, you will notice in your Member Info in each of your posts, the ff:
Karma: +0/-0
[applaud] [smite]
This Karma feature can be utilized by all site members to increase the Positive of Negative Karma points of other members. Members with high Positive Karma points are said to be trustworthy and good. While those with high Negative Karma points may mean they are dishonest or bad so be careful with those members.
Click on "applaud" to add one (1) Positive Karma point to a member. Click on "smite" to add one (1) Negative Karma point to a member. Please note that You will be required to include a brief text as reason for your action.
You can also view any comments regarding the Karma points added to members by going to their Profile and clicking:
- Who Changed My Karma
- Whose Karma Have I Changed
The Karma System does not guarantee the reliability and honesty of site members but it can provide you some help in determining their personality in the website. Please be responsible when using this system.
Note:
All Site Members are limited to only one (1) "Applaud" or "Smite" action per hour per member to avoid spamming.

Here's a question I've been meaning to ask - are the positive & negative totals recorded separately, or do they translate as +1/-1 to a single total?

They are recorded separately. Positive Points won't affect the Negative Points and vice-versa. This way, we can easily identify how "good" or "bad" a member has been.

Bumping up this thread - it looks like yesterday I was able to applaud 3 people within 3 minutes. I assume the 1-hour limit has been removed?

Well that's cool
I don't have access to the BanHammer, but at least I get extra attacks with my Sword of Smiting
Seriously though, I'd save that as a last resort. If it's at all possible, I'd prefer that things be talked over first.

Paging
Brel
,
Looks like the limiter is no longer active. I had just Applauded
viscoos
for his original take on ambassadorship a few minutes back, and then Applauded
Rolf
just now...
Rolf
, can you verify that you did receive it. I recall that you had +9 before I Applauded you.

yes, verified - I'm at 10 now. That last applaud can be fixed later, I'm sure.

Corrected post. That means "per member". You can
applaud
or
smite
any number of members as long as they are different per hour. Is that clear er... did that sound right?

Yup,
Pretty clear... I can only applaud or smite the same person once per hour, but have no limit to how many people I applaud or smite per hour.
Thanks for clarifying.
