Sounds awesome! One question though, can we bring in our own games as well or are we restricted to playing the games in the shop?

hello benjie,

good question. and what game would that be?  Roll Eyes

In general, i thought that patrons bringing in their own boardgames might not be too good an idea (the possibility of mixing up our board paraphernarlia). On the other hand, we can provide solutions for everything  Grin

Stand-alone games that's not in the cafe boardgame menu would perhaps be allowed. Expansion sets are to be monitored and if 'checked-in', cannot be checked out immediately. A checklist must be made i suppose.

Aside from all these, bringing in your boardgame probably means you'll be bringing in your friends as well. In relation to this, we can let you use a "family area" or VIP area that's quite enclosed for private play. In return, a minimum number of gamers is required for us to rent out the said space.  Cheesy

Charges will be similar to "internet cafe" formats [i.e.: individual payment per hour or so], but we haven't determined the final price yet.  We'll probably be offering up a different pricing scheme for members too.

With regards to private groups who'll either be renting the place out or bringing in their own games, we'll be determining the prices for these soon, as we'll have to pattern it to our main format.

Sorry we're still unable to answer this question.  I promise to let you know ASAP.

Great lineup of games and I guess it's targeted more for non-gamers which I think is a good start.  I also noticed most of the titles are available locally.  You don't have the "Bang!" game?  hehe Grin

Well, we plan on targetting both gamers and non-gamers alike... but we figured it'd be great if we can have our regular customers and gamers help us to continue and build up our game base.  In Game Crab, we're committed to growing with our fellow gamers.  Grin

Thanks for the suggestion alger, we'll be sure to look into that for our next shipment of games.  Grin

Do you guys know if Shadows Over Camelot is available locally?

Also, would you guys like me to post our regular rates here?  We'll be having introductory rates during our soft opening, but those have yet to be determined.

Brel: Actually, I could import it too... I'm just being "apurado".  Hahaha...  By the way, I saw a copy of Betrayal at House on the Hill at Neutral Grounds for P2,430.  What you guys think?  Good deal?  They're also offering like 40% off on their boardgames like Game of Thrones, Starcraft, etc. (both at their V-Mall and TriNoMa branches).

As for the rates, here's what we have so far (this is for boardgame and place rental.  so for the said fee, you get to play whatever you want for that hour and so on):

  • For Non-Members: P45 per hour (per head)
  • For Members: P40 per hour (per head)
  • Group/Party Package: COMING SOON
  • Price of Membership {Promo Rates for Soft Opening}: P150 {annual} or P250 {lifetime}

The price of membership will increase when we have our grand opening.  But I'll try to ensure that ALL TabletopWars.com members will ALWAYS get promo rates, even after the grand opening.  Members will also get added perks, like "Members' Night" and more.

Menu Highlights:

  • The P99 Pan Grilled Steak
  • The "Elvis" Sandwich
  • Game Crab's Famous Mac & Cheese
  • Crunchy Pan-Fried Tomatoes
  • ... AnD MoRe!!!

There you have it.  And oh... our max capacity is 60 people.  I'll post additional info as our soft opening draws closer.

It was selling at Neutral Grounds in Alabang Town Center for P2,700; I got mine second hand for P2,500 and I never regretted it Smiley You will also want to invest in a storage solution (I got ziploc bags but you might prefer other containers.)

Hallo,

Off on a tangent a bit, but I think still important.  Since you're renting out games, it's best if they all have sturdy containers for the game pieces, and should not be kept in the game box they come in.

My experience with demoing and lending Navia Dratp to other people is that while the pieces are okay if you're the one handling the preparation and storage, it becomes messed up if you rely on others to do it.

I have lost one piece (a monetary unit) when I had asked someone else to prepare the game, and the box it comes in is now horribly battered, without anyone even bothering to fix it.   The last time I had lent it out, the last people who played it just stuffed the pieces in and damaged the plastic tray.

With that tale of frustration out of my chest, may I suggest that you might want to think up of rates for lost and damaged pieces.  This should make the people who rent the games more careful about things that they don't own.

Just an unsolicited advise, based on experience.
