Anyone playing this game?  It's an MMORPG where you play a superhero Smiley

Let us think the unthinkable, let us do the undoable, let us prepare to grapple with the ineffable itself, and see if we may not eff it after all.

City of Heroes has gone free to play, in case anyone's interested.

I used to really love this game (subscribed a couple of years ago), so I was happy to get back in for free.  Not so happy with the restrictions on former (now free) accounts like mine...my main character was pretty nerfed due to restrictions on a LOT of rare drops I had (and can't use now).

It's still a good game though...first-timers won't really know what they're missing Tongue

You're really into this super-hero thing, are you? Wink

You are my adversary, but you are not my enemy.
For your resistance gives me strength.
Your will gives me courage.
Your spirit ennobles me.
And though I aim to defeat you, should I succeed, I will not humiliate you.
Instead, I will honour you.
For without you, I am a lesser man.

I think the world needs more heroes Wink

honestly though, I'm kinda burned out on generic fantasy settings...seems like every other one out there wants to mimic LOTR. I've also been looking for a sci-fi game for a long time now, but not much luck there either.

nope...never got around to trying DCUO.

My impression has been:
DCUO
+better graphics
-twitch based gameplay (which i hate)
-kind of arcade-y feel
-short, easy gameplay
-attract fanboys of the rabid kind (lol...just my impression)

CoH
+much more customizability in characters
+different universe means i'm never going to stand in Superman's shadow
+longer gameplay
+because of age, much more mature in terms of content and development
-also because of age, the game engine has been pushing (and sidestepping) its limits for some time now...the devs have been very creative with workarounds though.
-some limitations with graphics...the new visual updates are *nice*, but not *spectacular*

ewan...not really worth the effort of ranting here...would take too long to explain things in context. as i said, players starting from scratch wouldn't miss these things.
