I've also been waiting for the expansions to come out.  I read before somewhere that says both will be released at the same time.

Anyhow, here again are some alternative miniatures (from Reaper) if anybody is looking for replacement to the stand-up characters.

To at least maybe satiate our hunger for the expansions' release, here is an excellent board variation (ZIP file) made by Universal Head (also the actual graphic designer for the Z-man version).

Those are not my minis.  hehe  Grin

Anyway, we've managed to play this game again yesterday and it made me remember how excellent it is.  It's sad that the production of the expansions are being pushed back by Z-man as long as I can remember.  Prophecy needs expansions badly.  It is a great game by itself but can get repetitive after some play.  It has a very strong theme, low learning curve, and acceptable playing time.  I think I can still hold on to my copy for a few more months again...

Haay bad trip. Grin  I ordered Runebound again and some expansions for myself recently because I am badly aching for a fantasy board game!  Runebound seems to be the closest to Prophecy that I can think of.  Will enjoy that one again until the Prophecy expansions come out.  Cheesy

Finally got a copy of this, once again Fortress is really helpful ( I have managed to hold off online orders thanks to Fortress!), and I managed to play an initial game- No Final Battle variant with victor needing to get only two artifacts though.

I must say that the components of Prophecy are not that good, but they're acceptable as the gameplay is decent enough. Moreover, the mechanics of movement and card placements are more orderly and slightly more logical than Talisman.

The limited cards means you will see everything in 2-3 games. Also the open skill system, while interesting, means that there is nothing to really differentiate your characters in the early stages. Further, I found the Chance Cards to be somewhat fiddly, though its really just a question of getting into the rhythm of the game.

The battle mechanics as well as strength-willpower abilities are quite well thought out though. But, some cards have text that could have been clearer- how hard is it to print discard after use?

Still and all, the game is interesting and open to expansion and modification. Given the choice though, I would still play Talisman  Grin

Managed to roll this out yesterday, and it has certainly been a while. Good thing DJ watched an instructional video as he was able to provide info on all the little rules that I had already forgotten. (Hey its hard to find players for this at times) Anyway, thoughn I had the Dragon Realm expansion we played it without it. And had a rollicking good time. It's a shame that the game does not have more encounters. It's a good system and I hope Z-Man would support it more.

Hey hey hey!

We played this with Mark yesterday and dare I say it, I seem to have found a dice and roll adventure game I actually liked! The system was simple but was open ended enough that you could have the same character as your previous game, yet implement an entirely different strategy this time around. What I liked the most though, was I never really felt I was at the mercy of randomness. It always felt like you could do something efficient by fiddling around with your stats and resources. Excellent signs of a game I usually like (simple basic rules, complexity is instead found within the game, mechanics encourage efficiency)

Wait a minute.. didn't that sound like a Euro?!? Cheesy

The components are crap though, and the replayability may be dampened by the limited encounter cards and small-ish map. But it's nothing a couple of modular expansions can't fix. As Mark said, it's a good system and deserves more support, and perhaps a new edition!

As of the moment, it's something I'd probably try to nab off a Math Trade rather than buy from the store. But if they release an awesome new version, I just might bite. Cheesy
