We at Test Drive Games firmly believe this. We believe that games can provide a group of people with many hours of entertainment for a reasonably small investment.

However, we don't believe that all games are equally fun. Different games appeal to different people. And some games have a higher "fun factor" than others.

We believe that if you're going to shell out money for a game, you should first get the chance to find out if you'll enjoy it. That's what Test Drive Games is all about. We'll introduce you to some of the best board games and card games around—ones that you've probably never heard of. We'll teach you how to play a game, so you'll have the chance to take it out for a spin. If you really liked it, we have it for sale. If you didn't like it, we've got something else you can try.

Well I posted this as it is the first time I read about this "unique" business they have.  They host game parties, sell games, and accept game orders.

Instead of renting clowns to your next party you ask them to come and bring their modern hobby games.  They will introduce these games and you and your party guests can play.  Later on you can decide to buy/order games from them.

Here's some more info taken from their site:

"How do the game parties work?

You host the party. In other words, you invite the guests, provide the location for the party and offer refreshments. Test Drive Games personnel will bring the games and describe them to your guests. We’ll teach everyone how to play the games that interest them most. There will also be a free drawing for a door prize.

If your guests find games that they like, they can order the games from us during the party. If you’d like, you can also let your guests order games for up to two weeks after the party is over. Payment is required at the time that the order is placed. Both you and the buyer will get a receipt for the payment.

One to two weeks after we've received all the orders from the party, Test Drive Games will deliver the games to you. (Some games may be special order. These might take a little longer to come in. We’ll deliver the special-order games to you as soon as we receive them.) You distribute the games to your guests."

Actually, I was thinking of a boardgame party for my birthday. Because in my recent bro's birthday. My son brought down my copy of runebound (thanks brel!) to play with his cousins.

I was surprised at the interest it generated. (kala ko ako lang ang geek. lol).

I was thinking of asking gamecrab if they can "cater" games.

Neat concept,

   It's almost like what Titus Abola was doing before, but without the party aspect.

   It would take a lot of thought to makes sure that a boardgame party is pulled off successfully - one thing to consider is what kind of food would be served on that day since you want to be careful about the boardgames / cardgames being played on that day.  If your b-day is still a ways to go, alfblack, now is a good time to start planning it.
