Fight Klub TCG
«
on:
February 06, 2009, 07:37:50 AM »
On March 31st the TCG company
Decipher
, known for the
Star Trek
,
Star Wars
, and
Lord of the Rings
TCGs, announced a new trading card game called
Fight Klub
a game that promises to “
revolutionize the way trading card games are played.
” The basic premise of the game revolves around fantasy fights between characters across several different licenses. There is no particular genre the game is centering itself in, instead opting to be completely fan driven in terms of its content. In short, we may be seeing matches such as “Hannibal Lecter vs Doctor Evil” and other strange scenarios depending on what licenses
Decipher
has already acquired and what licenses fans request.
Main game expansion will be developed via popularity contests. The
Fight Klub
website at will host several pools that Fight Klub members will then vote in. The winner in these polls will be added to the game. Players will vote on things as small as “
what powers a card should have
” to as big as “
what license should Fight Klub include next
”. The website itself boasts that the game will be 100% fan driven and will only go in the direction fans tell it to go. Fans will also be able to decide what cards go foil, which cards get placed at what rarities, and they can even create their own custom payer made cards that they can submit for a chance to see them enter the main set.

Fight Klub™
will soon be in the Philippines,
Being the only confirmed
Founding Mentor
for this country (at the moment),
Paolo Jalbuena
(owner of
Fandom Cafe
and
Via Astris
), has asked me and
Tybalt
to assist in the demoing of this game to interested parties and mentoring players that join the Klub.
To that end, he has placed orders of the first two sets of the game. In the meantime, we have printed out their demo cards and are doing exhaustive playtesting of the game so that we can present to you the rules in an easy to understand and follow format. We will definitely run a demo on the upcoming
OGM
s, so you can see for yourself how this game works. As soon as we receive the actual cards, we will hold a demo day at Fandom Cafe so you can see what are the heroes and villains available (tentatively, we'll hold it every Friday evening).
For more information of the game from the
Decipher
website, head
here
.
If you have any questions about the game (but please do take the time to read both the preview and the official website), we'll do our best to answer them. Should you have a question that we can't find an official answer to, we will forward it to
Decipher
.
BTW, I'm not a Card-Flopper and TCGs/CCGs rarely catch my interest. In fact, the only CCG I've ever played is
Initial D
, and that was rarely. This game has gotten me intrigued for it promises to be quick combat between well known heroes and villains.

Thanks. Will do so. I'm pimping this game for Decipher. Looks promising and it ties in with the theme of NWA, multi-fandom.

Looking forward to it, Zhen. Just be patient as Decipher uses snail mail in sending the cards (10 days they say). I'm expecting my set within the next couple of days. As soon as they arrive, I will post an invite here so that those interested might see them first hand and maybe we get a few games in.

Hi, Brel. I'll quote the site for this:
The first expansion set is special. It's called, "One."
"One" is a complete expansion set in a single box. Unlike other trading card games with starters made from cards also in booster packs, "One" contains all unique cards not found anywhere else. It is sold in a single Kilo of 121 cards for $29.95. There are no starters in Fight Klub.
"One" arrives at your door ready to create two 40-card decks. The first deck is designed around heroes, the second deck around villains. The remaining 40 cards provide a healthy mix for customization right out of the box. The 121st card is called "The Drop," which you will learn about in the rules. Every player should enter Fight Klub with "One." Besides the low cost, it provides a shared, common experience for every player regardless of when they enter the game.
From set "Two" forward, Kilos contain 120 cards with guaranteed full common and uncommon card distribution and 10 randomized rare cards. Each expansion consists of 100 unique cards (30 rare, 30 uncommon, 40 common). Each expansion set also features six characters, all of which are rare cards.
I'm expecting the cards within the next couple of days. I'm not sure if there will be extra charges at the post office, or if they will indeed be delivered to my door without extra costs. Will post my experience on it here too.
Edit: Btw, the shipping cost is $4.95 per Kilo irregardless of where in the world you are. It goes down just a little bit when ordering multiple Kilos. Also, there is an optional $1 insurance fee per Kilo. I paid for it along with my Kilos just in case.

Ok, thanks for the info.
I would probably like to try the game out first if there will be a demo this April OGM.

I just ordered 1 kilo of "one" and 2 kilos of "two". Paolo, Let me know when you get yours, cause I'd like to have an idea of how long it will take. I've used the post here before, and it seems to truly be snail mail. Ha ha!

Roger that. I hope I get it soon. Been drooling at the Decipher boards just reading the "I have my cards" stories since I ordered.
