Paradigm Infinitum

One of Alger's earliest posts in TW forums was about this little shop in Singapore. Since Alger is back in the Philippines there hasnt been much talk about it. I just got back from a trip to SG and got to visit Paradigm Infinitum myself, thanks to Adrian (the other one). I would have totally missed it hadnt he told me about it. I wasn't expecting to find any boardgame shops beyond Settler's Cafe (which didnt have a branch anywhere close to where I was) but lo and behold, tucked in one of many buildings along Orchard road, was pure heaven.

The place is chock full of boargames, minis, RPG books, ccgs, and game accessories that would satisfy any gamer. Although their prices are still not as good as buying in the states, its availability they provide makes it acceptable. Think Brel's prices but without the monthly limit I only wished I could have bought more (I actually did, but I wanted more! )

They have a website that shows only a portion of what they have in stock. For inquiries its best to try and email them for quotes. They do make shipping arrangements, although discussions with the owner is required. Yearly membership (20SGD i think) would give you discounts on all purchases. They absorb the GST so no refunds if taking the games out of SG. A great place to buy and to play. From now on, whenever I can go visit SG, PI will be part of my itinerary, right next to SimLim and Funan

Whoever opens something like this in the Philippines will get the love of everyone especially, love from RPGers, CCGers, Miniers, Eurogamers, ATiers, Grognards, little men and women practically everyone w00t daming love niyan... so for the people who has capital

and did you hail yourself as alger's envoy? LOL yeah if anyone wants to use my membership when they go to singapore to get the discount without having to pay the annual fee just PM me. I get a point per 20 dollars you spend and i wont ask anything more haha XD

anyway PI has a great stock of games but i feel its the people that gather there that are the most appealing try having game sessions there be it minis, bgames, or some other random stuff...

oh yes on the second floor are two adult toy stores and everywhere else on that building are parlors and nail salons... yes it is easy to miss PI

I demanded them to bow before me in awe of Alger's greatness. I didnt get to talk to the owner anymore. The one who manned the shop, Daniel, was really helpful though. There were some guys playing minis (didnt get to see which, was too busy drooling browsing) but with their lively discussions it seems like a lively community as well.

Wow that is game heaven!  If only there were enough market here and I have enough capital, I would've opened a similar business.  heehee  It's very risky to stock a lot of items that you are not sure yet if it will move kasi.

You know what the worst part of it is?  I lived in Singapore for almost 3 years and did not know about PI.  Or this kind of board gaming.  Or anything about this hobby.

After 3 years, I go back to Manila, discover this wonderful community and past time... and ooopss... left behind a great store to buy from.

@brel - well they actually don't stock that many. I believe they bring in a copy or two of the game then play test it on the regulars to see if its worth bringing in . not sure but some manufacturers actually give free copies sometimes as well right? I know PI has this game of the month thing where they open a pre release copy of some games to let shoppers try the game out and put reservations on the first stock

@ adrian - erm... LOL i know how you feel haha the first few times i went to singapore before my 5 year stay i completely missed PI and found out about it only from a bookstore saleslady who suggested it to me for finding comics and 'other novels'. of course she didn't know that at that time PI wasn't a comic shop anymore and was more into the miniatures games already... the board game switch i believe was only a year or two ago...
note: if any PI members see this post do correct me if i got any info wrong XD hahaha

I actually visited PI alot when I had a project in SG a few years back but totally ignored the boardgames because I was much into WoW:TCG then. If I only knew

Had dealings with SI before. Thanks to Alger's post waaaay before, I've asked friends who are coming over from SG to pass by there and buy games for me One of my friends even got a free membership card! Sweet.
