Greetings!

We are building a community for everyone who plays Collectible or Tradable Card Games regardless of what game they are into. This community is called the Philippine Underground Gamers Society or P–U–G–S for short and we aim to grow it so that it will expand throughout the country and be able to create for itself fun and interesting activities for its contenders such as tournaments, parties, fellowships and the like.

We’ve thought long and hard about this community and have decided that we and it will be guided by the following values: Fun, Friendliness, Fellowship, Thoughtfulness, Consideration, Self-Respect, Impartiality, Fair Play, Compassion, Transparency, Truthfulness, Integrity, Sustainability, Efficiency and Competence. We know that it’s a lot but we feel that they are all necessary and are mutually reinforcing.

This is how we plan to grow P–U–G–S: we’ve organized the community into clusters called “Cells”, the most basic unit of P–U–G–S and the building block of its growth. Cells are encouraged to grow and form alliances with other Cells to form “Clans”, which in turn will form alliances with other Clans and form “Tribes”, and all Tribes drive the growth of P–U–G–S.

Managing P–U–G–S is Fandom, Inc. Now, while P–U–G–S as a community can chart its own direction, Fandom Inc. has the right to veto any proposal that will endanger the viability of the community, hinder its growth or affect the operations of Fandom Inc.. P–U–G–S is, after all, also a business venture and Fandom, Inc. is there to ensure that it remains a sound one.

We are inviting you to sign up with P–U–G–S and register as Contenders and encourage you to form Cells, Clans and, ultimately, Tribes. This will add a new dimension to your game play since, as Contenders, you get to issue challenges to other Cells, Clans and Tribes for bragging rights and Contender Standing (all of which will be tracked in the P–U–G–S website – http://www.thepugs.org). In addition, you can count on the P–U–G–S Community to help you find more players for the CCGs you love and to help you promote these. What’s more, as part of the P–U–G–S Community, you get to chart the future of P–U–G–S, particularly when it comes to choosing which CCGs are featured in the Tournaments.

We’re very excited about growing P–U–G–S and we are excited about the possibility of us working together. We look forward to this becoming a reality. That is the intention.  However, at this early point in the creation of the community, we believe that it is prudent to start with CCGs/TCGs and grow from there.

   With the Open Gaming Meet moving to a new venue this April, we'd like to take this time to invite Philippine Underground Gamers Society to check it out and see if it can be a place to showcase your hobby.  In the past, the older venue was limited in space, but this time it can easily hold 15 tables comfortably - each table is the size of 2 square monobloc tables side by side.

   The OGM will start at 1pm and end at 9:30pm, and during the first hour (1pm to 2pm) we'll be reserving some tables to be used by specific hobby genres, namely: Pen-&-Paper Role-Playing Games, Classic Wargames, Collectible / Trading Card Games, Miniatures Wargames, Party Card Games, Boardgames.  All the other tables are considered "free" and any game can be played on them.  Once the first hour has passed and a reserved table is still unoccupied, it is then reverted to a "free" status as well.

   As long as you set-up the appropriate game within the reservation window, that game is the permanent representation of that genre for the day until - a) you decide to change games, b) you pack up for the day, c) you relinquish the table to another group of players that will be playing the same genre.  A game that is set up in the reserved tables can remain "idle".  By having a set-up game on "display", it might get the other participants of the OGM intrigued enough to learn about it.

   When setting up a game on a "free" table, please make sure that there will be people playing it the moment you are finished setting up.  Should a game still be "idle" 15 minutes after the final set-up, we will ask the game to be packed up to free the table for others to use.  Although 15 long tables sounds like a lot, we would like to make sure that they are utilized as efficiently as possible, and will be revising the ground rules as we gain more experience in the new venue.

We will be hosting a tournament for Yu-Gi-Oh! CCG Players at Ozinefest 2009 on that date, but we will try to make our presence felt at the OGM as well.  Thank you for the invitation.  It is greatly appreciated.

We would also like to invite the rest of the TTW Community to come see the tournament featuring our rating system at Ozinefest.  It will be running from April 3 to 5, so we hope you can make it on the non-OGM days.

Uhhh... ok.

Anyway, cosplay is just one of the features there.  I'm not sure there will be that kind of cosplay.  Not my cup of tea.

We're running demos of a lot of CCGs and a Yu-Gi-Oh! Tournament at the PUGS area.  If you have the time, drop in and join us.

Fandom Café is at Unit G-09 at the Ground Floor of Regalia Park Towers Condominium, 150 P. Tuazon St., Cubao, Q.C..  If you're on EDSA coming from the South, turn right on P. Tuazon (just past Makro).  Regalia will be down that road less than 100 meters from EDSA to your right.  There's also a map at our website here.
