We will be giving an allowance of
7 days
(Starting
April 29, 2009
up to
May 6, 2009
) for all Members to fix their posts in the Marketplace. After that, we will merge threads ourselves and start implementing the punishments. Please combine your threads and cleanup your posts everyone.
If you want us to help you merge your threads, please post here what threads should be merged etc.
Thank you.

I'm not really sure about this but I think editing a post, such as adding even just one word, already moves the post up the thread. (Please correct me on this if I am wrong)
If this is so, then minute changes in posts to move it up the thread should also be considered as "bumping".

Editing doesn't bump, last time I checked.
However, deleting your post and then creating a new post will...

Exactly.
It's not that we want to make it hard for members to sell. We just want to make the process less intrusive for members who are not interested in commerce at the moment. Advertising is useful but there are times when it is not appropriate. Also, come the time that more members wish to sell items, we want to avoid a front page/index full of posts that say only "check out my store". Since the front page only lists the last 15 recently updated threads, you can see it won't take a lot of sellers to overwhelm that, especially if they have multiple store threads
*each*
.
There is no fixed schedule yet, but we are also researching/developing means for buyers and sellers to find each other more readily. As always, our goal is to make TW as pleasant and accessible - and useful - as possible for everyone.

Can I suggest that if possible you can put a "seach" function in the site? Sometimes its hard to look for past threads and articles through the directory especially now that there are many posts.

Is it possible to make a separate "ticker" for the marketplace, similar to how tipidpc does it on their site? From my perspective, the problem fundamentally comes from the overlap between commercial and non-commercial posts. If we allot a separate space where items for trade/sale are clearly visible and updated as the seller makes changes to his/her post, then we will no longer need to implement a tedious check and balance system.
I'm sure even the sellers will appreciate this feature as it will prominently display their items along with the prices on a convenient section of the site. Plus, it will reward dedicated merchants who constantly update their stalls, add new items and give low prices. The system will still not be able to check for unscrupulous behavior such as non-sensical "bumps" in the thread, but it will be far less time-consuming to implement.
I know this may seem like a lot of work, but this is a one time investment for benefits that everyone will enjoy over a very long period of time.

There is a search function in the site. It is found on the second row of TW section links from the top - same line as "my messages" and in between "my groups" and "help".

We've actually discussed some similar ideas, but as with most site upgrades, there's a bit of work involved. Don't worry
things are being planned. We don't want sellers to be left out in the cold, we just want things to be balanced for everyone.
edit: I forgot to mention - it might also be a good idea to post a link to your "want list" thread in your sig. That way, sellers who are looking for customers can view your list and send you PMs.

Yeah, it would be useful if you included the "Exclusive Reviews and Articles" in the Recent Topics list, instead of the Buy/Sell stuff. If you could interchange those two, it would be great.

Mine will probably hold d record for being the longest thread in d Marketplace I bet
I understand everytime I modify/ add my inventory prices/ stock it gets pushed up d front page/index; but is there any other way to spare the browsers (& new members) from going thru pages & pages worth of stuff?
Any helpfull ideas would b appreciated.
Feel free to PM me shud u prefer that.
Much obliged.

To place a link in your Signature, just include the ff. code and modify accordingly:
Code:
[url=http://www.tabletopwars.com/bb/index.php/topic,3997.0.html]Click here[/url] to visit my stall.
The value of the
URL
(text after the "=" sign all the way to the next "]" symbol) should be replaced with the actual link to your stall thread. You can get that by going to your first stall thread (the oldest one you made) and copy the value in your browser's Address bar.
Rest assured we are looking into streamlining the "e-commerce" part of the site for all members. It will take some time to finish but the project is moving.

You can always just make an index of what you are selling for your "stall".
Make it the initial post and update if necessary.
No need for lengthy description or even pictures
