Dungeonlords

This game is still in prototype and being designed by Vlaada (Vladimír) Chvátil of Through the Ages, Galaxy Trucker, Space Alert, and Prophecy fame.

In Dungeonlords players are evil beings who are trying to build the best dungeon out there.  Players hire monsters, build rooms, buy traps and the other usual stuff.  Read a short review of the protoype game.

Sounds like the PC Game Dungeon Keeper.  Also looks like it's better than the card game MiniMonFa.

Seeing the early artwork for the Imp (below), it seems the design and feel of the game will be similar to the PC game Dungeon Keeper.  Well i think that is just great!  Smiley

Has anybody played this game? I've recently read some reviews and it piqued my interest.

I have a copy. I like the game. Nice combination of Euro-ness and Theme. Definitely not for casual board gamers though due to the complexity

I have a copy that i introduced Jonas/Hisashi to last week. Definitely on the heavy side but pretty fast to play. The theme is cute and funny and is quite reminiscent of the old Dungeon Keeper games in the PCs (except you cant smack your goblins around).

I have a copy and we played it intensively last month.  Gelo doesn't like it but some friends of mine really like it a lot.  It's all about controlling your evilometer to get the right people you want.  But I can't achieve that level of strategy on this game so far.

We should play this together. It's a cute game but it's very deep Smiley

Got this before but traded it away after play-testing it solo a couple of times (hasty I know). I got eventual guilty pleasure Summoner Wars for it.

I found the game a bit fiddly for what it wanted to accomplish. A lot of guessing and timing to ensure you get the actions that you want, but those mechanics made absolutely no sense in terms of the theme. The "battle" phase was also mostly solitaire in execution. Finally, the scoring is a bit wonky which may have been fine if the game didn't take itself seriously but again, the fiddly euro mechanics detract from this. In a nutshell, I found the game to be a case of confused identity (euro? AT?) which sometimes works, but in DLs case it didn't. Still willing to give the game a second chance though, acknowledging the fact that my judgment may have been half-baked.
