Jeff Bridges reprises his role as programmer Kevin Flynn but it is not him who goes into the "game" anymore...

I remember only bits of the original but this must have been the most in cutting edge computer effects back in the early 80s. So, yey!

Note that I watched this in VHS several years later, not when it originally came out in '82 Wink

I love this movie!  Tron reminds me of another movie about a kid and video games...  The Last StarfighterGrin

Speaking of The Last Starfighter - there is reportedly a sequel in development, titled simply "Starfighter", due out in 2010.  No other info at this time...

thankfully they've done enough sequels to the Lawnmower Man or else we shall see one for this too.

Now I want my own Tron Cycle Cheesy

Grin So this is almost out. Unless you Yarrr. Anyway, I remember playing the Coin-op Arcade game back in the day. Basically a bunch of mini games, the cycle one was cool as you tried to make barriers in front of other cycles while trying not to crash into them-though it was just a bunch of colored lines on the screen!

@MMJ: Kind of, but without the pellet eating. You pellet eater!  Grin

On Topic: Its nice that they made a sequel, but its been a looooooooong time. While they are at it maybe we can see Howard the Duck again and Buckaroo Banzai.

Well she better be careful, I've heard large reptile creatures tend to capture princesses and hide them in castles away from the plumbers  Grin

...and they've got mushrooms for servants -_-

Now that HP7 is out of the way (at least for now), I can now focus on anticipating this. I'm half scared on re-watching the original Tron in the fear of being bored to death (Grease almost killed me).

You have to contextualize the film in the time it was made to be fair though, but I've heard that Tron holds up pretty well even by modern day standards. Its a bit like Star-Wars in that respect, for me Episode 3 even in its unmodified form retains most of the magic it had when I first saw it as a 7 year old.

Also, why are you hatin on Grease!  Grin

I'm not exactly hating on it, its just that, as you said already, I couldn't "contextualize" it properly to my present. The songs are still great no doubt, but I didnt exactly feel the same way I did first time I saw a few decades ago.

I've decided to skip reviewing Tron on film and went to Wikipedia instead to remember the story
