thanks for posting Eren here Smiley

One more thing, will Armor, Weapons chosen affect spells in any way (except of course needed to drop put aside weapons in order to do hand gestures)?

Hi,

Not for elves. Elves in LL (and Basic / Expert D&D) are the classic Fighter/Mages. Straight Mages can't even use most armor and weapons. I have a rationale for that that will come out in game.

ok, odd question here.  You asked that we choose which language would be our first language and the other would be our second.  Is there one reason why one language would be better than the other?  Sorry, it's weird, I know.

cheers,
zhen

also notice there are any acquired skills right? So if I wanted to wield two daggers/1-handed swords, will there be any penalties?

Well, it may come up. Traladaran is the language of the indigenous humans, while Thyatian is the language of the conquering people. :p

Hi, no real penalties no. Although since there's no real benefit - you only get one attack in at a time.

Hi,

Wasn't ready to get into this yet, but that was kind of foolish of me. Anyway...

Rather than go into the pantheistic route we normally get in these types of fantasy games, I'm going to rip off Fading Suns and we get -- The Pancreator, Maker of all, the All-father (or all-mother, depending on your sect) who made his will known to his people through the prophet Zebulon.

There are a small army of saints in charge of various portfolios as well.

Here are the religious symbols:

The Thyatian Church's is different from the Traladaran religion, which tends to more syncretic beliefs -- spirits, elementals, demons that must be pacified, along with a small pantheon of gods.

PM me the elements that you're thinking of. The thing is, your character may not survive to see the story elements take root -- but we can try. I'll PM you back to let you know more about the Callari elves of this setting as well, and tweak details to fit the Karameikos setting.

Hey guys!

I'll join you for this game.  Thanks to Alex for seting up this game and the admins for letting it happen in this site.  I'm really interested in trying out the old-school type of game.  There is another old school game called Swords and Wizardry which looks interesting.

Alex,  any reason why you want to try this one?  Whats the difference with the other old-school games?  How does this compare to AD&D or the Boxed Sets?   Smiley

Hi Vlad,

I wrote an article on it on the New Worlds site here.

Basically, I chose Labyrinth Lord core rules because they are essentially the Basic & Expert D&D sets (B/X) with the Erol Otus covers. The B/X D&D rule set was simple... and some say actually quite conducive to survival for PCs if the rules for monsters are followed (morale rules).

This is slightly different from the BECMI (Basic, Expert, Companion, Master, Immortal) D&D rule set and the D&D Cyclopedia.

Swords & Wizardry, IMHO, is essentially OD&D (which pre-dates AD&D, B/X D&D) as pointed out in more detailed in this article by someone else.

Disagree with him about Basic Fantasy, which is essentially a 'pseudo-clone' incorporating B/X rules, AD&D, and some D20.

Wanted to do Castles & Crusades, but you have to pay for that rule set, and all the non-D&D rulesets are available for free.
