Played this quirky card game yesterday. I liked it. In fact I concur with everybody when they say it's a good game. A very good game. But it gave off the feeling that it might be a bit too simple. I dunno. Maybe more card variety would have helped? More ability to combo? More ability to affect your opponents? It just had the feeling that it would be samey after several plays.

I think I like this more than the other purchase I was considering though, which was Martin Wallace's London. Another card flopper whose mechanics and "feel" share similarities to 7 Wonders. While London may be a notch higher in complexity, 7 Wonders is miles ahead in terms of charm.

I'm in limbo if I want to get this. It will probably miss the cut this year. Maybe next year I'll get, or maybe I'll get lucky in a Math Trade this year. Cheesy

7 Shots (7 Wonders - Alcoholic Variant):

Catch-up Mechanic - Count the number of points as the end of every Age. Take a shot for every track that you are leading in.

7 wonders with 7 players is chaotic and fun but tends to be samey as you say. I've played it more than 10 times by now at least half with 7 players. I never feel like it is really drafting as the cards are limited, its more of atactical hand to hand decision making game than long term strategy. In any case, its enjoyable but not a buy for me. I like the length of the game though and the drum-roll who was the winner ending though.

Has anybody heard about the supposed upcoming expansions for 7 Wonders? I'm not sure whether they're planned as promo expansions like Manneken Pis or actual expansions like Leaders (I'm not even sure if its serious Tongue ).

You can check the following link from BGG: http://www.boardgamegeek.com/thread/671227/7-more-expansions-in-the-works/page/1

It seems like 7 Wonders has contracted a severe strain of Arkham Expansionitis.

But I have to say, these expansion do sound cool.

Being extremely popular tends to do that to a game :p
