The new year is upon us. There is 1 year left before 2012.  Shocked  Huh

Now is the time to repent our chaotic ways and put order in the world!

That is why I am making a topic of our "PLANNED BUYS" for 2011

What is a  "PLANNED BUY" you ask?
These are games that we really intend to buy for the year, this is not a wishlist where we put the dreams and wants for our board game collection. Included here should be games that we have pondered, deliberated, decided, meditated, (most important) budgeted for. You can put any games here be it old new, any type, genre etc.

Who can fill in the list?
EVERYONE AND ANYONE who is a member of this paradise we call Tabletopwars

Why?
There are numerous reasons. Most important is that we can be more organized in our purchases. I believe that our comnunity can grow better if we are able to know who is buying what. Second as a formator  I believe that it will foster camaraderie and discipline in our community. Third... 2012 is coming... You have been warned

How will I format my planned buys?
We always use Turabian style of citation. Using footnotes and the legendary ibid. son of lubid king of stoobid.
Well no format I think is required. Just the name of the game and when will you get it. Linking the game to bgg would be good also
E.g.
Monkey Auto Races q2 2011
Monkey Auto Races April-May
Monkey Auto Races

Ok ba?

Caveat lector: this topic will be modded heavily by me. Try as much as possible to keep it clutter free.

Adrian the Panda's 2011 Planned Buys:

1. Mansions of Madness  (Mar 2011)
2. Urban Sprawl (June 2011)
3. 1989 (2nd half 2011)
4. Isla Dorada (2nd half 2011)

John -- the ones we include here are the ones that we're still going to buy in the future right?  I mean, I don't include games that I'm already buying now (i.e. through xstriker's sale), and getting only sometime Feb 2011?

Really? You plan for these thing?! I just buy when I have the money and what's available, locally if possible Tongue But there is really something I'd want for next year, and that is AEG's Nightfall. Baring overwhelmingly bad reviews, of course.

The past few months, I've come to realize the importance of light games in the repertoire of a boardgamer, lest you prefer the consistent declines (aka "the pain" huhuhu) from less than boardgame-enthusiastic folk.

Thus, taking advantage of Hans' end-of-year boardgame sale, I've resolved to grab a couple of party games than can comfortably accommodate large groups of people (8+):

1. Time's Up: Title Recall
2. Wits and Wagers

My purchases in 2011 will also likely include the occasional "traditional" boardgame, though I'm not exactly which one yet. Knowing myself, it will probably be:

1. Something new and shiny (Ewww Caylus is so High School).
2. Will be more Euro than AT (And if it's another worker placement game, it better be a damn good one. I have too many already).
3. But "hopefully" it will still be thematic and explodey enough ("You mean in this game we're playing as traders/businessmen AGAIN??")

Oh my, I'm trying to cut back, but here's my shortlist:

Wrath of Ashardalon
Dominion (Cornucopia + fall expansion)
Lord of the Rings LCG
Labyrinth
War of the Ring (new printing)
Pocket Battles (Elves vs Orcs and whatever else)
Merchants and Marauders

(Although I might still change my mind about that last right now)

Currently in the mail:
Monsterpocalypse 2-player battle boxes
RFTG: Rebel Vs Imperium & Brink of War
Dominion: Prosperity
Pocket Battles (Celts Vs Romans)
WoW CCG: Black Temple Raid Deck

Hm, half of these are expansions...  Roll Eyes
