Strange lull I'm having right now. Plenty of interesting games released recently but none of em screams must-buy. I have a couple of mandatory buys sure, but that's more of because I want to expand a system I already enjoy. But no new game out there has me salivating to get it. Majority of them are more waiting and seeing if I'll like em. The only thing set to arrive for me right now is Small World Undergound. *yawn*

So I might be going on a couple of trips soon and I've resolved to grab a boardgame souvenir in every spot. I'm not quite sure what to get yet though. Help? Hahaha.

(Haven't tried. Might be willing to blind buy.)
Carson City
In the Year of the Dragon
Rattus (and Pied Piper)
Airlines Europe

(Tried. Might get it)
Train of Thought
Jambo
Wasabi

(Haven't tried. But on the fence if I want to get it)
A Few Acres of Snow
Battleship Galaxies
Glen More
Struggle of Empires
Carcassonne

(Tried. Liked. But I'm not sure I want to be in a hurry to get these.)
Dixit (1,2 and Odyssey)
London
Time's Up: Title Recall

Let's see how I've been doing:

These were on my wishlist, so I bought them!
  • Wrath of Ashardalon
  • Pocket Battles: Elves vs Orcs
  • Dominion: Cornucopia
  • Chaos in the Old World: Horned Rat
  • Merchants and Marauders
  • War of the Ring (first printing)

I also bought these, partially on impulse:
  • L5R: War of Honor
  • Earth Reborn
  • Resistance

I have lost interest in these games for various reasons:
  • Labyrinth: War on Terror
  • Lord of the Rings LCG
  • Conquest of Nerath
  • Blood Bown Team Manager

And finally, here are the games that I am considering buying:
  • Talisman (FFG)
  • Alien Frontiers
  • Summoner Wars: Master Set
  • Mage Knight
  • Steam Map Expansion Pack #1
  • Dominion: Hinterlands
  • Pocket Battles: Persians vs Macedonians

Double Finally, I have my own game-buying resolution! I will only buy games that have seen wide release for at least one year. Yes, I reject the Cult of the New! Only games that can withstand the test of time will be allowed into my collection. Does not apply to expansions to an existing game (Summoner Wars: Master Set is ok), but rules overhauls are not (Descent 2nd Edition is out).

So GenCon has come and gone and thus my interest has been piqued by some games.

Games I'd get:
Quarriors
Urban Sprawl
Dungeon Run - reminiscent of cutthroat caverns!!!
Rune Age

Games I'd probably get after a play/reviews:
Belfort
Blood Bowl Team Manager
Ninjato
Eminent Domain

Games I wanna try but most likely wont buy:
Nothing --- nah kidding

Elder Sign
Gears of War
Walking Dead (Z-man)

*all items are subject to the fickle mind that I call my brain coupled with low EQ

Haha Gen Con is crazy. Unfair to my poor EQ. So many attractive games. But I inevitably lose interest on so many of them anyway. I'm normally not a fan of FFG but they were definitely the star of the show with some epic looking games.

For those who've been in the hobby longer, was this the same excitement with the last Space Hulk release? I wanna know na if I buy one of those epic games it won't quickly be relagated to the cabinet once the excitement dies down. Hahaha.

It was bigger. Space Hulk was a must-buy, Game of the Year.

Yeah yeah. That's probably correct Doc T. Hehe. Entirely based on the hype on BGG and the general type of games that get brought to our local meets of course. Might not be representative of the true preference for Space Hulk yes? Wink

I actually have games which are NOT to be played outside my home. Examples are WOTR CE, Settlers of Catan 3D Collectors, and SPACE HULK Wink

Obviously, I welcome anyone to play at my house Cheesy
