I recently bought the Core set and my group and I have enjoy playing the 4 different houses that were pre built. Is anyone else playing this awesome game? (I'm a big fan of the book series.)

I really like the basic gameplay of the game. (Doesn't hurt that the books are great  Wink) The three challenge types provide a much better framework for tactics than say, the zones in WH:I LCG or the provinces in L5R. It gives a brainburning analytic element that's pretty different from the average CCG-style combat.

I do have some issues with how the core set cards were picked - it seems that there are a lot of abilities which don't do much within the core set (ie, Knight of Rainwood) and I find that kind of design very irksome. Sometimes it feels silly. I wish they could have gone with more vanilla and semi-vanilla cards in their place instead. Also the balance could be better, but that's not as hard to tweak.

As it turns out, I have extra (slightly used) copies of Princes of the Sun. Cheap! Wink

I'm iffy If i should get another core set to make deck building better or should I go and get the chapter packs? I play it with friends who are also fans of the game so they're kinda into it.

Ultimately, the answer is both. You know it in your heart.  Grin

In the short term though, I'd pick the core set. It has better value, and you need duplicates of the key cards to make your decks run smoother. A lot of the chapter packs will just spread your card pool out in a different direction, satisfying neither.

Here are some all important links for the deckbuilder, yo:

EDIT: Upon further thought, maybe you should buy my (slightly used) copies of Princes of the Sun. Cheap!  Grin

If I'm not mistaken, Neutral Grounds at Vmall carries multiple stock. Haven't checked as of late though, might have changed specially with the TV show out.

Also, I'm a big fan. If anyone out there has cards he or she wants to trade from chapter packs, I'm open to doing so. Got some spare cards from a second core set, plus Rituals of R'hllor, Mountains of the Moon, City of Secrets, Illyrio's Gift, Of Snakes and Sands and Return of the Others.

The best way to start building a competitive deck is to focus on one house (which cuts down on the cards that you have to buy) and buy another core set. I really wanted to get into the game way back when but was stopped by budget concerns. Now that I'm more stable I may jump into it.
