I got in about 16 games of this over the weekend with a friend.  We beat Cataclysm twice, but we had to swap out Pillage for Sorcerer in order to succeed. 

Our consensus is that the elves are just not too good in that scenario, but may be better in PvP instead of co-op.  The other races were quite good.

The more I think about it, the more I think that Storm Sorceress (the way it is currently worded/printed) cannot carry over as a reward from one round to another.  It's because of the parenthesis that encloses "exhaust to gain 2 influence" and excludes "destroy at end of turn after using ability".  It makes it read as if the "ability" being referred to, is the one that says "claim this unit as a reward".  If it's meant to be able to carry over between rounds, it should have been worded more clearly.

What about the errata from the box?  What does that mean if she cannot be carried over to the next round?

What about the errata from the box?  What does that mean if she cannot be carried over to the next round?

The errata says simply "destroy SS at the end of your turn, only when using her ability" - it might be argued that someone was destroying it even when it was used for combat, and not after using its ability.  Unfortunately, the errata doesn't clearly define which ability this is; the reader is left to infer the meaning from this text. 

I'm leaning towards the interpretation that the "ability" that the errata refers to is "claim this card as a reward", and the phrase in parentheses ("exhaust this card to generate 2 influence") is the ability of the reward, not of the unit.

Note that by transposing the closing parenthesis to the end, such that it reads:
"Claim this card as a REWARD. (Exhaust this card to generate 2 influence.  Destroy this card at the end of your turn.)"
implies more clearly that you only destroy the SS after you exhaust it for 2 inf.

I do still agree that it can be argued both ways; it kind of annoys me that FFG worded it rather imprecisely.  It wouldn't have taken much effort to be clear about it.

Do the Elves play better on the Monument scenario? The casual gamers I play with all like using the Elves, but agree that it's pretty hard going compared to the Undead or Demon races.

I'm trying to fill in the blanks for the preview cards

Vampire:Reveal up to 4 cards from your deck, discard one of these cards and return at the top of your deck in any order (a good deck management skill, you can discard a reanimate and draw necromancer next, hmm...)

Blood sister: You may wound 1 particapting unit (friendly/opposing). If blood sister wounds its self, place 1 "Berserker" from barracks directly to combat (well they are bloodthirsty faction, more wounding ability)

Just read the news about the expansion myself. Exciting stuff! They've even threw in a few things from RW: Banners of War and Descent v2. Love how they are tying it all together. The Vamp power does sound like it could make the Necro ability more reliable. I cant see how much hp the Blood Sister has but its ability to call in a Berserker into combat is just too sweet! Cant wait for more previews. Terrinoth just keeps getting more and more exciting

I cant see how much hp the Blood Sister has but its ability to call in a Berserker into combat is just too sweet!

Chongs, If I'm right walang HP diba, once you wound a unit it returns to the barracks after combat, so the combo might be if you don't have a berserker in play to wound for plus 2 Attack but have flesh reapers and need that berserker to wound, I haven't played this game for quite a while now...  Grin
