War of Honor is a Legend of the Five Rings game of strategies and tactics for 2-4 players. It allows players to follow their own path to victory through political, honorable, military and spiritual deeds. The game brings a whole new dimension and dynamic to multiplayer Legend of the Five Rings and is suitable for play with cards from the existing arc or older card collections.

The game is played using L5R CCG cards, but a collection of cards is not required to play the game. It comes with four pre-built decks, ready to go right out of the box! Featuring tiles that determine alliances and wars, including strategies for placement of tiles, War of Honor incorporates boardgame sensibilities into the L5R CCG, making it a great way for those somewhat wary of a CCG to try this dynamic and proven game.
The Lion Clan marshals its forces at the Plains of Thunder, determined to exact revenge against the scheming Scorpion Clan. The Dragon Clan attempts to reconcile the two armies, even as it refuses to reveal evidence that might exonerate the Lion, and incriminate the Scorpion. And the Phoenix Clan races to intervene before the situation becomes a War of Honor to turn the Empire against itself.
In this exciting new multiplayer format for the Legend of the Five Rings collectible card game, you will form and dissolve alliances, engage in political maneuverings, and wage mighty battles to determine which Clan will triumph.

· Features a deck for each of the four following Clans: Dragon, Lion, Phoenix, and Scorpion.
· Includes a scoring board, markers, and movable tiles that give a different game play experience every time.
· Also included: tiles for each of the other five Great Clans, making War of Honor fully expandable with your existing Legend of the Five Rings cards.
· The basic game is for 2-4 players, but can be played with more if customized using your own L5R cards.

Old time L5R player here. (Hey! My sig is an L5R reference!) And it really depends on how standalone War of Honor will be. If the game feels complete and plays well out of the box without any additional deckbuilding, then count me in. If it's just another hook to get me back into the CCG, then forget it.

Yeah. I don't plan on getting into a money sink CCG either. I want this to be playable right out of the box. And then maybe if I'd add decks, they'll be one of those ready to play themed decks.

But I'm really impressed on how AEG seems to have picked up its act recently. Marketing has been on full blast (they even got Drakk to be an unofficial spokesperson), and their product quality gets better and better as they continue to listen to their customers and playtesting seems to have ramped up. Half of the reason I'm even considering War of Honor is because of AEG.

After a single play, I want to play this game some more. Who has copies? Will you let me bring my old decks? Smiley

Generally, the old decks are not really compatible with the Celestial Edition.  There are a few cards allowed.  Block Supply Lines is banned from this game.

That debate has been around since Jade edition. AFAIK.
People who don't use it qq a lot about it being overpowered , people who use it say "dudesaywhat?"

As much as I would like to get a copy, I feel like its a step towards getting back into the ccg. (also, you can spot an old l5r player by this lone, my favorite clan isn't represented)

Block Supply Lines is back in Emperor Edition though.

EDIT: This seems like a good time to mention that I'm selling my almost-new War of Honor set for just 2000 phpShocked

I just might take that offer as my L5R gaming stopped at Hidden Emperor. Might be a great way to introduce the current game to a new audience.

I have no idea.  It's just that War of Honor does not allow it in its present build.  Obviously, the status of the CCG does not affect it.  I suggest you check the errata.  It promises to have an eventual banned list for CCG cards.

that it fits in any deck is a sure sign of brokeness though.
