In Citadels, you are a medieval ruler trying to complete your city before your opponents can build theirs. Expand your city by adding new districts, but be sure to invest wisely: Some districts are more valuable than others, but cost more gold to build.

There is more to ruling a city than gold, however. Lords, ladies, and nobility all have a role to play. The game changes each turn as each player secretly chooses a new role- the Assassin, Thief, Magician, King, Bishop, Merchant, Architect, or Warlord - and the power that comes with it.

Classic... one of the mainstays in my group  Grin  We even got a Burger King's crown to replace the ugly piece that came with the game.

Well I'm surprised this had no thread on TTW yet.

I must really be in my card-flopping phase right now. Most of the recent games I've enjoyed have been card games, 7 Wonders, Thunderstone, Summoner Wars, heck even Dixit is technically a card game! Cheesy

So it is with little surprise that I have rediscovered the charm of Citadels. I had my second game this week, and while I had mixed feelings about it from my first game (ages ago), my passable familiarity with the game in my recent play has made for an enjoyable experience.

It will probably never contend for favorite game in most gamers' collections but it will always have a place as a simple game of bluffing and opponent reading with the potential to have some hilarious moments.

To that effect, those who enjoy games like poker will find much to like here. It's not a game I'd rush to the store to buy (good filler though), but something I'd probably try to get through a Math Trade. Cheesy

Cita-Dell's (Citadels - Alcoholic Variant)

Assassin - The person who gets assassinated takes a shot, if the Assassin misses, the Assassin takes a shot.

Thief - The person who gets robbed takes a shot, if the Thief misses, the Thief takes a shot.
