The Philippines Historical Boardgamers Club will be holding its next Wargame Meet on Saturday May 21 from 10am onwards.

John Sy has graciously volunteered to host this month, see below for directions.

Hope to see you all there for a full day of board wargaming!  Cool

About Us

The Philippines Historical Boardgamers Club, also known as Philboardgamers, was established in 1995 to provide opportunities for players of traditional board wargames to play, socialize, and introduce others to our hobby.

Directions:

This month's Wargame Meet will be held at 203A CM Recto Street, San Juan, Metro Manila

From Ortigas Avenue, turn into Wilson Street and go past Cardinal Santos
Memorial Hospital (will be on your left), past McDonald's and up to the light.
The cross street is P. Guevarra (there will be a store called Happy Feet across
the street to your right). Turn left onto Guevarra and take the first left.
This will be CM Recto. Go down CM Recto, cross Mabini Street and the wooden
gates to your left is 203 and 203A CM Recto. Ring the bell for 203A.

Cheers,

It was fun yesterday. Was able to play C&C Napoleonics and Labyrinth.  Thanks to SCUGrad for enlightening me on some rules that I missed in Labyrinth Smiley

Finally got to play Across the Pacific:

Overall, a nice game with a good combination of strategic and tactical elements to it. Also has some elegant mechanics on simulating difficulty in coordinating units and intelligence in an abstracted way. Positioning your aircraft is critical to be able to react to the enemy and more so for the Japanese player in keeping the oil flowing. Game also allows to explore the China conflict and its relation to the whole Pacific War. I also like the added chrome of forming task forces and task groups and the combat resolution, which makes a lot of sense when you actually play it.

On our FB group John posted a link to an interesting BGG article that attempts to help Euro players understand the typical wargamer perspective. I thought it would be good to share this with our friends on TTW:

Tuloy ba kayo ni Mark sa Tide at Sunrise?

Just a few tips if you're playing the Russians... Guard the mountain passes and the road from Port Arthur leading to the north of the map.  Send some reinforcements to Port Arthur.  Most likely you will loose them but its needed to delay the Japanese from taking Port Arthur and if you're lucky he will need to divert forces just to take Port Arthur.

Japanese naman... I didn't get to play that side well enough but its all out attack!
