So - the biggest problem in getting games going is floorspace. A lot of people can hold it in their homes - but some, like me, don't have that option.

So as a public resource, we better collate some places we can play boardgames at.

Compiled Venue List:

X-play - Greenhills

Pros - nice large table, aircon, cheap
Cons - noisy kids - though if you play in the slow afternoon time they're usually not there.

NG Glorietta - Makati - Monday/saturdays

Pros - tables, gaming shop, aircon, cheap
Cons - NG games only

McDonald's Forbes - Forbes - ?

Pros - ?
Cons - ?

Red Ribbon - Bonifacio Global City (near St. Luke's)

Pros - tables, aircon, reasonably priced food, open 24 hrs, exposure to non-gamers/PIP

Cons - limited noise level (not for party games), most players have to buy food

The Enterprise Center Food Court - Makati CBD

Pros - right in the middle of Makati, large tables, isolated corners, aircon

Cons - food court, closes at 9

This is an interesting topic, together with the PIP Campaign. The Fort Gang has been dealing with this issue for a while. For now, as you can see in our posts, Red Ribbon in Bonifacio Global City has been a good place for us, but I'll continue keeping my eyes open for alternate options as well.

I remember scenes with people playing chess in parks, but I can't remember from which movies. I wonder how that would work here. Tongue

I've also been thinking about that! I think public areas with lots of foot traffic is perfect for PIP hehe.

I've been thinking High Street, but getting an actual table, lighting, and environmental factors could be a problem hehe.

Actually sa CBTL in high street, they don't mind our playing, it is only the cost of eating there that is prohibitive and the lighting is not so great. Jollibee, near Red Ribbon, Macforbes and Macdo (32nd St) in Global City are also okay. Though for the last 3, regularly playing there may be a no-no (rotation na lang).

I like the idea of rotation as maybe the frequency of our gaming in one place is what really causes our previous locations to become bad hosts.

Might be a bad idea for games with alot of bits that can easily be stolen or blown away. If we were playing Times Up! baka pwede pa Cheesy

Reminds me of the Dominant Species incident in Red Ribbon involving the tiny bits and pieces of the black player and the dark shadowy area under the couch. Cheesy

Well most of us are only available after 5 pm, so lighting is a concern, as well as the usual-wind, rain, and colliding passersby.

Can future contirbutors write the venues like I did in the first post? Para organized at para pwede ko i-cut and past and lagay na lang sa first post.  Grin Put in McForbes and Red Ribbon but I don't know their specifics so pabigay na lang and I'll put them there.

I don't think buying food is a COn, as it is just fair that we buy something to justify our stay Smiley
