Hi Everyone,

Since not everyone can attend every meeting and post eval session, at the same time to not hijack threads. I have decided to open a thread where people can voice their concern and suggestions.

Please post everything that you want for us to improve our events for the future. Please only post CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM (positive or negative)

Let us know what we did wrong during Kickstart! and other previous events so that we can learn and build on them. We wish that we can all pitch-in to grow our beloved hobby.

Thanks,
Hans

When you say constructive criticism, you should clarify it.  The statement generally means make your case then give one or more suggestions on how to solve it that would be amenable to all parties involved.

well, I thought it was a fun event and I wish I could have stayed longer. It looked good but I wish the tables were a little less close to each other as well as the stanchions/dividers.  A very minor complaint only.

My suggestion is putting some focus on certain games rather than just the companies. Maybe a mini-tournament for more popular and established games. For the newer games you think would be best sellers maybe a portable DVD players playing a simplified video on how to play to make it easier for the hard working volunteers to teach multiple games at once.

You can still showcase the companies in other tables or together with the table of their game. For Example a Settlers of Catan Tournament with the expansions and other games of Mayfair games also being displayed in the same table. Heck I ordered the Fairy deck and G deck because of the Agricola tournament.

How about giving out IDs to "game ambassadors" so that curious newcomers can just approach them and ask them about a particular game or how a game plays. Or maybe even have them sit down to demo a game or two. At least Hans won't need to be everywhere all at once. Nakakahilo kaya yun. Also, it would also encourage shy onlookers to come out of their shells and try boardgaming with strangers. Smiley
