Mark, I don't mean that I think all wargamers are this way.  I can certainly agree that all games, board or otherwise, have their share of players that tend to be...irksome to others.  I've actually lost the excitement of some games due to the one must-win-at-all-costs-then-pout-and-moan-when-it-didn't-happen player.

But, with the idea of introducing new players to the hobby, because the number of enthusiasts within that niche seems to be so much smaller, a new player may come across this kind of player more often, which could be a detriment to getting new people involved.

Again, I do realize that all games, be they cards, boards, or even the mass marketed family games, have those kind of players.  Lord knows, my own brother was like that at Monopoly, of all games.

I would absolutely love to attend the wargame meet if I could.  It seems like a blast.  I don't find a lot of people off-putting when I game with them (but I've run into my share that I tend to avoid gaming with, as have we all, I'm sure).  I'm a sociable gamer, so just being around those that enjoy what I enjoy is the best part for me.  Don't get me wrong, I like winning as much as the next guy. Ha ha ha!  But it's ok to lose too.  Especially when we're just having fun.

Gerald, I hope you don't think I'm trying to belittle the wargames group of hobbyist or their love of their games.  I'm merely offering my opinions as to why there just aren't the numbers in the genre as there once were.

I would truly love an more informal (edit: informal? I mean formal) introduction to the games themselves, and do hope to make the wargame meet one of these days to see for myself why they hold such a loyal following.

I hope we get a chance to meet and play sometime soon. 8-)

Me too!  Maybe one of these days when I can get away, we can meet up.
