Aha here comes their replacement for Wings of War (that was quick)! The LCG doesnt seem to catch my attention (yet). I wonder how different this game will be. Also, one of FFGs strong suits is its great art. Better illustrations for these games would really increase its appeal

I'm semi-disappointed they chose to reflect the original trilogy era instead of the more vibrant prequel and old republic universes. Besides the dated 80's look you would have thought the latter eras would have allowed more flexibility in terms of storytelling.

In other news, my wallet is semi-thrilled that I'm semi-disappointed. Hahaha.

That's good news for FFG, but, another space miniatures game, another co-op LCG? I feel kinda oversaturated.  Tongue I'll wait for a real boxed game, I think.

It's probably just me, but I actually prefer the old 80's trilogy (the latter half of the story) than the newer trilogy.  So I'm more interested in a game that deals with only this era.

While I'm somewhat interested in the X-wing game, I don't see myself rushing out for it.  Kinda getting tired of Lucas Arts licensing the line to everyone.  I feel the Star Wars franchise is over done now.

More mini spaceship fighting and a cooperative game to boot- will be waiting the initial reviews before I decide on this. I don't mind that they set it in the latter half of the series (which is the earlier half production wise  Shocked) Nice to see Star Wars get the FFG treatment, just as my interest in fantasy seems to be flagging.

Haha. I think it's also a function of which era you were exposed to the most. I missed the hayday of the original trilogy so I might be more biased towards the recent iterations of the franchise. That being said, I think the former market seems to be who FFG is targeting here.

I liked the original trilogy more than the prequel trilogy, and obviously I'm at the prequel era, I don't know why I liked the original more, got so irritated with Jar Jar maybe. Grin

I liked playing Star Wars KoTOR 1>2 and reading the fluff in the Star Wars d20 books.

This alone was good enough for me to want the prequel trilogy than the original one.  Then you add Natalie Portman!

Exposure does make for a better opinion but, you have to admit, older means greater exposure to both trilogies.

Like the others, I am willing to await reviews of these games although I think I would like it more than LotR stuff.  Even though I like Tolkien more than Lucas.  Mainly because their experience in making the LotR LCG would benefit this one.

Actually, I'm more biased towards the KOTOR universe. Let's go Bioware!!

I thought Kotor was okay as a PC game. But for the minis game, the ships in the trilogy are more iconic. As for the LCG, I doubt FFG has the rights to the "Bioware universe", so it looks a little unlikely that FFG can go down that path even if it wanted to.

You do know that the so-called "Bioware universe" has been considered canon with only two changes:  Revan is canonically male while the exile is canonically female.

That said, since 2003, there has been no difference between the "Star Wars universe" to which Bioware acquired a license to produce KotOR and said "Bioware universe" (term coined by Jake).  They are one and the same.

So I don't know why FFG can't go down that path.

Just shooting from the hip here, so please, if I'm mistaken don't.. uhhm... shoot me? Tongue

From a storytelling/literature standpoint perhaps they're the same universe.  But possibly from a legal standpoint there might be a difference in their contracts. Smiley
