http://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/105134/risk-legacy

We all know how we feel about Risk but the changes and design innovations introduced in Legacy are actually quite interesting. The game itself changes with each play... permanently. After every game you will open a sealed envelope (It has over 10 envelopes) which includes stickers and instructions that will permanently be placed on the board and/or cards and factions based on what transpired in the previous game (the design intentionally doesn't let you do "take-backs"). The game will constantly evolve... and unlike other games that promise that, Risk: Legacy causes the game to forever change like it's history unfolding. A decision you make in Game 1 could come back to haunt you in Game 10. In this game, you won't forget past betrayals... the game won't LET you!

Even if the game is essentially Risk, I might check it out just for the evolution mechanic

Now that is wild! Stickers and continuing effects! Really interesting from a novelty stand point. You could use Post-Its para di sayang ang stickers ha ha ha.

The "Yun Lang!" moment however is that you have to play 10 games to get the ultimate payoff, or maybe at least 5-7 so that you can feel the "evolution".

Its not just a finished game that triggers an opening of an envelope. Some of the envelopes are triggered due to "achievements". The example they give is when somebody builds the 9th city (which can take as early as the 3rd game to as late as the 7th depending on how aggressive the players are) the envelope and its stickers are immediately implemented mid-game

would you need to play with the same group?

i mean that would be <blank> to have something affect the game that only you would know when it started or appreciate.

It's like remembering the start of something when you're 50 yrs old and are now getting into war with a bunch of teens.

are the minis used as cool as the ones in the cover? mech suits and stuff. (level higher than 2210)

Not much info on this so I can't really say if you need to play with the same group.

As for pictures of the figs this is all that is out so far

Still the same comment applies. You have to play repeated plays of Risk, which is great for some but not so for others. And Risk can take some time to play, still its an interesting idea with the right group.

Hopefully they put a cap on number of rounds like RISK 2210 did Smiley

we'll have to wait for a review or a zoomed photo. Hopefully the insert would be functional for storing and sorting when you finish playing. and keeping it that way until the next game.

An interesting video linked to the Risk Legacy discussion at BGG.

I enjoyed Risk back in Grade 5 and 6, and more recently Risk 2010. What I do hope they have in Risk:Legacy is possibly unique unit powers/abilities.  Wink
