I just thought of something we could do as a gaming community for this upcoming Christmas season. I need to know if people are interested in supporting it though.

Like a lot of people I've been trying to shrink my collection to a more manageable size (In order to fit the influx of new incoming games LOL). I'd sold several already but I need to do more. Then it hit me... Christmas is coming, why not GIVE them away? Smiley No prizes, trades or other incentives... just out of the goodness of one's heart. So I realized that we could all pool our unwanted games and give them to others not in the immediate gaming community. Not only does it count as a good deed (For those still counting  Grin ) but it also increases the chances our community will grow to have more converts Smiley

I'm calling this Game it Forward (a play of Pay it Forward). Simple mechanics really. We pool donations of games which would be gift wrapped and be given to one or more of the following:

-Youth Groups
-Schools
-less fortunate kids (although I'm not sure they would appreciate it as much)
-simply people we meet in the December All aBoard event that are NOT regular gamers or game collectors/owners
-NOT people who are already board game geeks.

We give our contact numbers along with the games with an open invitation for them to join us.

So what do you guys think? Can we as a group pool enough games together to make a lot of people happy owners of games not called Monopoly? Smiley

I agree with this and would support it. I favor Schools though.

I do this at the College I teach at. I hold semi-regular games and if they like a particular game a lot I gift it to them. Cheesy It makes for a whole new generation of interested game players.

(I do have to admit that the games I've given them are kinda outdated by RR standards. Acquire '76 edition, Twixt, Breakthru, Great Dalmuti, etc)
